Tool of the Week: Kuhn Rikon Silicone Tornado Whisk With Two-Toned Handle

—Contest now closed—

"Different Strokes for Different Yolks."

Oct302009

That’s the line on the back of the tiny booklet that comes attached to every one of the 15-odd Kuhn Rikon whisks that recently showed up here at the BehindTheKnife.com offices.

There’s the Balloon Wire Whisk, the Galaxy Spring, the Palm Spring, the Double Balloon, the Silicone Butterfly, The Silicone Heart Spring (in pink, no less), and the French Wire.

At times, I didn’t know if I was digging through a box of kitchen tools or sex toys…

In any case, the Kuhn Rikon Silicone Tornado Whisk With Two-Toned Handle is the featured Tool of the Week here at BehindTheKnife.com.

And since it’s a new addition to the Kuhn Rikon product line — in fact, Amazon lists it as not yet released — you can be the first on your block to have it.

Some of the features

  • Flat-bottom designed for shallow skillets or large roasting pans
  • Ideal for whisking anything from roux to gravy
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Prepare your pan sauces right in the pan with this flat bottomed whisk
  • Designed to cover the large surface of shallow skillets or roasting pans
  • Silicone wires are excellent for cast-iron or nonstick surfaces

Win one!

The Kuhn Rikon Silicone Tornado Whisk can be yours, FREE! It’s a $14.00 value. Just leave a comment below by Thursday November 5th, 11:59 pm. Check our contest rules.

I find many uses for my whisk. I have a great roll between hands technique. I also really enjoy using cast iron pans ad pots. yet, as you noticed the two are not on speaking terms, they can hurt each other. Now you let me know about silicon whisks. Oh My – thank you. This is just to tool to get them being best buds. More fun for me.

Thank you

Tracy Pryor Oct 30 2009

Charles Youts Oct 30 2009

Sue E Oct 30 2009

I love the flat bottom design, that would really come in handy. Thanks for the chance!

Kelly Ann T. Oct 30 2009

This would be great because it would not scratch my cast iron cookware.

Dean Oct 30 2009

I’m curious about the Two-tone significance. I imagine it is good for marketing reasons. :>)

For me, whisks are fun to use. I think it is the rapid motion that entertains me. The flat bottom design makes a lot of sense for pork chop gravy, my favorite.

Susan C Oct 30 2009

This is a cute whisk that i would love to use on Thanksgiving for my turkey gravy.

Carol G Nov 02 2009

One of my pet peeves has long been the fact that whisks don’t do well in some containers. Good to see that a design has been created to improve that, and the fact that it is silicone is icing on the cake.

This looks great as I am a kitchen tool junkie! I am a huge fan of whisks but this one is gorgeous as whisks go! I love to use them to make gravy or sauces-no other way to do it-and I make white sauces and gravy often because my family likes that. A flat bottom would definitely have benefits.
