To The Test: ManPans Round Two

In which we drive over the same pan we first tried to destroy by blowing it up with fireworks.

Nov232009

Some might say we just have way too much time on our hands.

To which we reply: we’re only using the materials already at hand. First it was some leftover fireworks:

Next, a hearse. (Why you ask?)

Honestly, I thought this would have meant curtains for the ManPan. As well as for the Wellness Mat, which I am now subjecting to another peculiar brand of abuse in my postage-stamp-sized kitchen.

But it didn’t. And so we are now planning our next assault on the ManPan, which by necessity will have to beat having a 5300-pound vehicle driving over the top of it.

Our choices include taking the ManPan to a firing range and/or letting a steamroller run over it. We were going to have local jazz drummer legend Quentin Baxter wail away on the pans, but while it would make for some great music, it would be like taking a step backward.

Have any ideas? Leave a comment below. Once it’s thoroughly destroyed, we’ll have to borrow a page from Will It Blend? and list the destroyed pan on eBay.

Of course, this particular BehindTheKnife.com tool test wouldn’t be complete without a giveaway, now would it? The trick is finding something that matches the theme. After running through our extensive inventory of pans, whisks, graters, and a Paula Deen Pie Board, I decided to go to the other extreme.

I picked a pan that’s too pretty to run over, or try to blow up, or destroy in any way.

Here are the specs:

The Anolon Nouvelle Copper 10-inch skillet is a classic must-have in any kitchen. Its versatile functionality allows you to prepare foods from fresh vegetables to delicate salmon fillets. The copper core double full cap base paired with durable restaurant tested Autograph® 2 Nonstick ensures even heat distribution, enduring food releasing performance and easy cleaning. Retail value $79.99.

Because this pan is so special, you’ll need to jump through a couple of hoops. First, leave a comment below. Next, head over to Twitter and spread the love by following @BehindTheKnife (if you’re not already) and by retweeting early and often:

I really like you guys, you’re fun! Baking soda and vinegar or dry ice can blow up a 2 liter soda bottle pretty good. Maybe put it in a plastic container and try it and see what happens. Definitely stand way back!!!
