The Tool Bar: On The Move

Mar242010

I’m in the middle of moving…again.

Sigh.

This time, it’s for a variety of reasons, primary among them is that I just don’t like to stay put in one place for very long. Basically, I’m happiest when I’m not standing still.

The future of BehindTheKnife.com will churn up in the fall when I finally just give in to a full-time life on the road, which will inevitably bring many adventures with chefs all over the world who are not accustomed to speaking candidly about their tools.

But until that day comes, I must hunker down at one last checkpoint.

In the meantime, my meager possessions — and my kitchen tools — are spread out between two places, and until everything is consolidated in the New Place, I am relegated to running around the corner for a quick bite of sushi or chicken salad pita. Because, after all, you can’t cook without tools…

Or can you?

Between the move, travel, and ceaseless deadlines, right now I don’t have the time to cook. Besides, my KitchenAid 6-quart Professional Mixer is already in the New Place, and as I mentioned not too long ago, my beloved mixer is gonna be hard to tote around on the road.

So my question to you now falls into line with our You’re Kidding, Right? strange tool department.

What’s the most unusual tool or technique you’ve used when you’ve been in the middle of moving? Leave your comment below.
